Mutual Reception
Mutual reception is the situation in which both parties are willing — in the language of relationships, where both of them want the same thing. Below you will see how it is formed, a concrete example of it, and why it counts as a powerful testimony of cooperation.
Both parties are willing
When two planets receive one another by dignity, mutual reception is formed: each of them holds a dignity in the sign the other occupies — goodwill running both ways. The strongest form is when each planet rules the sign the other is in.
A concrete example
Say Venus is in Leo and the Sun in Taurus. Venus rules Taurus and therefore receives the Sun; the Sun rules Leo and therefore receives Venus. This is reception running both ways.
What does it show?
Mutual reception is a powerful testimony of cooperation. Lilly says that when the principal significators are in mutual reception, the matter tends to be brought about, even if with some difficulty.
Let there be an aspect too
According to Houlding's reading of Lilly, for reception genuinely to do its work an aspect between the significators is generally expected as well; a bare exchange of places without contact is weaker on its own.
Sample question: Is the person I want to make peace with also willing to keep this relationship going?
