Exaltation (a position of honor)
when the significator is in its exaltation, the person is honored and well regarded; but the brilliance does not come from ground of their own, so it can be showy and fragile.
Exaltation: +4, a position of honor
A significator in its exaltation sign receives +4 points, and this holds throughout the whole sign, whether or not it is near the exact exaltation degree. Exaltation is not the planet's own home: there is honor and standing, but not the security of domicile (+5).
Its character
According to Lilly, a significator in its exaltation — unafflicted (not damaged by a harsh aspect) and angular — points to a person who is proud, haughty, and claims more than is deserved. Examples: Mars is exalted in Capricorn, and Jupiter in Cancer.
Sample question: Will I get the promotion? If the planet signifying you is in its exaltation: yes, an honorable rise; but lasting stability requires additional support.
