Term and Face (Minor Supports)
term and face are the smallest of the five essential dignities: in its own term a significator keeps a foothold even on ground that is not its own, while in its own face it is someone barely preserving its standing, almost empty-handed.
Term: +2
Term receives +2. Lilly gives examples such as Jupiter in the first degrees of Aries and Venus in the first eight degrees of Taurus, where each planet is in its own term.
What term means
According to Lilly, a planet dignified only by term describes a person carrying that planet's bodily type and temperament rather than someone of great wealth; it gives character more than power.
Face: +1, the weakest
Face is the weakest of the five essential dignities, at +1. A significator dignified only by its own face has not reached the bottom, but its support is very thin and cannot by itself be called strong.
Sample question: Will I win this case? If the planet signifying you is dignified only by its own face: a very thin support, barely holding on — not a strong 'yes'.
