Prohibition, Frustration, and Refranation
As two significators move toward a meeting, another factor may intervene and prevent perfection (its completion). This can happen in three distinct ways.
Prohibition
While two significators are applying to unite, a third planet intervenes and perfects an aspect with one of them first. The intended perfection is prohibited, often by another person or event.
Frustration
A significator is close to perfecting an aspect, but the other planet perfects another aspect first and cuts off the light. The anticipated meeting fails at the last moment.
Refranation
As an aspect is about to perfect, one of the planets stations (stops before turning) and turns retrograde, so the aspect is never completed. This is a strong negative testimony: one party withdraws or goes back on a promise.
Shared meaning
All three prevent the intended meeting. The matter remains unfinished, another person or event intervenes, or one party escapes at the last moment. Do not overstate positive testimonies when one of these conditions is present in the chart.
Sample question: I have been told that the job offer is almost certain. Will it reach me, or will it disappear at the last moment?
