Aspects

In this module you will learn how planets behold one another: the five principal configurations, the distinction between easy and hard aspects, and the applying-separating distinction that lies at the heart of horary.

TOPICS

  1. 1The Five Configurations: How Planets Behold One AnotherAn aspect is a way in which two planets see one another in the sky. In horary the real question is this: if an aspect forms between the significator of the person asking (the ruler of the Ascendant) and the significator of the thing asked about (the ruler of the relevant house), the two parties make contact and the road to an answer opens; if no aspect forms at all, the parties do not touch one another.
  2. 2Easy and Hard Aspects: Friendship or Friction? It matters not only whether an aspect says the matter will happen, but how it will happen; the tone of the aspect decides that. Depending on this tone, aspects are divided into easy and hard.
  3. 3Applying and Separating — Will It Happen, or Has It Happened? The same aspect says something entirely different depending on its direction: are the planets moving toward one another, or away from one another? Houlding regards this distinction as the heart of horary; the answer to "will it happen, or has it happened?" lies here.
