The 9th House - Long Journeys, Foreign Countries, Higher Learning, and Faith
The 9th house is the house of everything that broadens your horizon: distant places and ideas that pass beyond the boundaries of the familiar world.
Principal meanings
The 9th house signifies long-distance and foreign journeys, other countries; religion and religious figures, spirituality, faith and philosophy; higher education, universities, books and knowledge; as well as dreams and visions.
When is this house used?
Short and routine journeys belong to the 3rd house, while long-distance or foreign journeys belong here. In legal matters, a lawyer acting as an adviser or source of knowledge may be associated with the 9th; the judge and court that issue the decision belong to the 10th. Lilly, however, lists lawyers under the 10th.
Derived-house and body note
The 9th house governs the buttocks, hips, and thighs. The Sun rejoices in this house.
